Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Day, is an annual secular one-day holiday observed in Canada and the United States to celebrate being thankful. In the United States, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November and, in Canada, on the second Monday in October.

Thanksgiving is a remembrance of the day when Native Americans didn't attack the British trespasser, gave them food to survive the winter and ultimately were eradicated. I'm not really sure when it became a generic holiday of giving thanks.
